A Two Month Old??/ Wishes for Abby

June 8, 2013

WOW!! Your 2 month birthday has flown by, your first trip to stay at Grandmommie's house, and multiple parties .... my, oh my! Guess I ought to throw in the stop on the way home by the police officer who was SO enthralled by you that he didn't even give Mommy a ticket ....

Last weekend was the best weekend ever .... you and Mommy came for a bridal shower for Aunt Jessica, then a baby shower for Aunt Rachel and a family get together, so that everyone could meet you, and wish Cousin Kelly and Jennifer a happy engagement! Wish Daddy had been able to come, too, but sometimes work takes priority. Where to begin??

It was all so fun, and you had so many cute outfits! Have to admit that I am amazed by your happy demeanor, and your smile! Honestly, Grandmommie was a little worried that you wouldn't sleep so well, and that all of us would be feeling a little cranky by the end of the weekend. But you did great, and Grandmommie barely heard you cooing in the night when you got hungry. Have to give Mommy a lot of credit for that, and attachment parenting ....

Friday, we just hung around, and eventually went outside to roam around the yard, looking at the flowers. It's easy to give you credit for enjoying it, since you can't talk, and you were so curious .... wonder whether or not you will enjoy gardening when you get older. Guess we will have to wait and see. Good thing the workers were finished with the siding before you got here, because they were really noisy!

Saturday was your party with Aunt Jessica. I stayed home and did some errands, so that we could just hang out after dinner. You fell asleep right in my arms, and then I was reluctant to get up and go to bed, even though my behind was getting tired of sitting. Fortunately, you did fine with moving to your bed. Mommy and I just talked and talked while you slept .... looking forward to the times when we all three will talk late into the night about girl stuff!

It rained like crazy on Sunday morning, which was a blessing and a curse. A blessing because the grass and the flowers really needed it!  Mommy had spent a lot of time and energy on making Aunt Rachel's shower a success, and it was! She wasn't very happy about running in and out of the rain to get everything, including us, into the car! But it all worked out, and everyone had a good time. Next, we were off to Aunt Barby's house. On the way, we stopped to feed you, and then you slept the rest of the way. Good thing, too! Meeting all the crazy peeps in Grandmommie's family has got to be hard work for a baby girl!

Everyone fell in love with you .... fun to watch Aunt Barby, Aunt Kris, Karter and Emily play with you. Claire was there only a short time, and Uncle Ben held you for a few minutes, until you woke up .... I think he likes sleeping babies best!

That evening, Mommy and I talked some about Aunt Liz and what had happened with her and Evan. It is so hard to talk about without crying. There are reasons for everything that happens to us in this life, and although we don't know what they are, we ultimately have to accept them. I told Mommy how I felt about the whole thing, and she talked about how she felt, too. I know she still loves and misses Aunt Liz ALOT. Maybe talking to Louis about what happened will make her feel a little better .... or at least, help her cope some.

Monday morning was SO tough for Grandmommie! You were your beautiful, perfect, smiling self when you woke up .... Cryer that I am, I had to excuse myself to wipe away tears, knowing that you had to go home to Daddy. I was really disgusted with myself, because I didn't even really say goodbye or I love you before I left for my meeting. Words cannot express how much I did NOT want to go! Afterwards, I talked to myself all the way home about how you and Mommy needed to go see Daddy and how much fun we had, and that I am blessed to have had the time with you both. Imagine my surprise - and JOY!- when I saw your swing sitting there, and your blanket ..... another chance to kiss you and hug Mommy and really say bye, be safe, and I love you!

Now, for the wishes part.

At Aunt Rachel's shower, Mommy handed out pages for us to fill up with wishes for Dylan Carter. (Who, by the way, Aunt Rachel has decided will marry YOU! Good news, he isn't Romani!) After I filled in wishes for Dylan, I thought that it would be fun to think of some wishes for you, Miss Abigail! So, here they are:

I hope you learn to always be your very best self, because God loves you just the way you are, and He never makes mistakes!
I hope you aren't afraid when trying something new.
I hope you love with reckless abandon, but only those that deserve that love.
I hope you laugh daily and deeply. Laughter is the BEST medicine!
I hope you ignore people who are mean to you just because they are jealous or cruel.
I hope you become the best YOU that you can be!
I hope you respect your parents, your elders, teachers, the law ....
I hope you grow in beauty and grace.
AND, I hope you never forget that Grandmommie loves you to the moon and back FOREVER!

Love Always,  Grandmommie
